The Colosseum

The Roman Colosseum was given to Rome as a gift by the Emperor Vespasian at about 70-72 A.D. At the Colosseum they held different entertainment attractions for the public to watch. Some of these activities included gladiatorial combats and wild animal fights. The amphitheater measures at about 620 by 513 feet and can seat about 50,000 spectators. After about four centuries of showings at the Colosseum they halted the entertainment to the public. Over time the Colosseum lost about 1/3 of its building.
